How to make a moisturizing face & body rose mist?

Today I have for you a simple recipe for a homemade rose mist for your face, hair and body.

Rose mist can replace a traditional face toner or you can use it as an additional skin care to moisturize or refresh your skin during the day. The mist will also work well in hair care. It will close the hair cuticles and improve their hydration.

I made the mist from wild rose flowers, which can be used for all skin types. Rose flowers have cleansing and anti-inflammatory properties, which is great for those with oily and acne-prone skin. The presence of antioxidants and vitamin C will strengthen blood vessels and reduce skin redness. Additionally, it brightens the complexion and accelerates the healing of minor skin damage. Vitamin C also stimulates the production of collagen in the skin, which improves its firmness and elasticity. Antioxidants slow down the skin's aging processes by fighting free radicals.

Together with rose essential oil, the mist helps in evening out skin tone by reducing the appearance of hyperpigmentation and dark spots, improves skin elasticity, tightens the skin, reduces puffiness, and minimizes the appearance of pores. Rose essential oil is known for its anti-inflammatory properties, making it excellent for soothing irritated or inflamed skin. It can help reduce redness, swelling, and irritation, making it beneficial for people with conditions like eczema, rosacea or sensitive skin.  Rose essential oil additionally relaxes, soothes the nerves and improves the mood.

Hyaluronic acidglycerin and lactic acid moisturizes the skin and prepares it for the next skin care steps. Lactic acid additionally helps to bring the right pH of the skin.

INGREDIENTS USED FOR 150 ML OF MIST:

- rose infusion, 143 ml (a handful of dried wild rose flowers + distilled water)
- hyaluronic acid, 2.5 ml
- vegetable glycerin, 2.5 ml
- preservative, DHA BA (Dehydroacetic Acid, Benzyl Alcohol), 1.5 ml
- rose essential oil (or other), 10 drops
- lactic acid, 1 drop

  • Put a handful of dried wild rose flowers into the jar.
  • Pour about 200 ml of distilled water onto the flowers.
  • Cover the container and place in a water bath for about 10 to 15 minutes. If necessary, add water to cover the amount of water in the jar. The infusion should be between 60 and 70 degrees Celsius.
  • When the herbs have brewed, remove the container from the water bath and leave for a few more minutes.
  • Strain the flower infusion through a sieve with additional material.
  • Add 2.5 ml of hyaluronic acid and 2.5 ml of glycerin. Both substances are quite thick and sticky, so it is a good idea to immerse the spoon in the solution so that the entire measured substance is released into the cosmetic.
  • Add 1.5 ml of preservative, i.e. about 30 drops and 15 drops of rose essential oil. Mix the cosmetic.
  • Add the remaining rose infusion up to 150 ml. If you don't have that much infusion, add distilled water.
  • Mix everything thoroughly and finally set the pH of the mist. The initial pH is about 6. Adding a drop of lactic acid was enough to obtain a pH between 4 and 5.
  • Pour the finished mist into a clean and disinfected spray bottle. Close the bottle.
  • Your mist for face, body and hair is ready to use :)

The mist with preservative can be used for up to two months, storing it at room temperature. Without a preservative, it is better to make it in a smaller capacity and use it within a week, storing the cosmetic in the fridge.
