And the best part? You can use it not only on your face but also on your body and even your hair! Let me show you how simple it is to make.
Ingredients You’ll Need:
-
260g distilled water
-
15g urea
-
15g glycerin
-
10g apple cider vinegar or herbal infused vinegar
-
10 drops essential oil (or a blend)
-
5–10 drops preservative (optional)
This recipe makes about 300 ml of toner.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
-
Start by adding about half of the distilled water (around 150g) into a clean container.
-
Weigh out 15g of urea and mix it into the water until fully dissolved.
-
Once the urea has dissolved, add 15g of glycerin. Stir well — these two ingredients will keep your skin soft and deeply hydrated.
-
Add 10g of apple cider vinegar and mix again. (You can use raw vinegar or herbal-infused vinegar)
-
Add 10 drops of your favourite essential oil. I personally love using sage, rose, rosewood, or lavender.
-
Top up with the remaining distilled water until you reach 300 ml and mix everything together.
This toner have a pH around 4, which is ideal for supporting your skin’s natural barrier.
If you have sensitive skin, or if you’re new to apple cider vinegar toners, you can use a little less vinegar (7–8g) to keep the pH closer to 5.
Storage Tips:
This toner can be stored in a regular bottle or a spray bottle — whichever you prefer!
The low pH and use of distilled water help keep it safe without a preservative, but for extra security, you can add a few drops of preservative.
Keep your toner at room temperature, away from direct sunlight, and try to use it within one month. For an extra refreshing experience, you can also store it in the fridge.
How I Use This Toner:
-
Morning routine: Instead of using a cleanser, I swipe this toner across my skin to leave it clean, fresh, and prepped for serum and moisturizer.
-
Face mist during the day: In a spray bottle, it’s perfect for a quick refresh and boost of hydration.
-
Body mist: Refreshing and moisturizing boost of hydration. Especially great under the arms before applying deodorant.
-
Hair mist: Adds moisture, shine, and a beautiful essential oil scent to the hair. Sometimes I mix it with a little oil and apply it to the ends for extra nourishment.
